Fees and Payment

Fees and Payment

Payment is due at the start of each session. Cash, check, and credit cards (M/V/D) are accepted. Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), and Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA) are usually eligible forms of payment (you’ll want to check with your plan to be sure).

I don’t work directly with insurance companies. However, if you have medical insurance and want to use it for counseling, I’ll provide you with the paperwork you need to apply for reimbursement. As a fee-for-service therapist, my services fall under your out-of-network insurance benefits. Policies vary widely so you’ll want to find out about coverage requirements and limits.

My private counseling practice offers high-quality, individually-tailored, professional services. It’s not a managed care-driven mental health clinic where treatment is determined by one-size-fits-all rules or by someone who doesn’t know or understand the details of your situation.

Paying privately (also called out of pocket) has other benefits, including not requiring a mental illness diagnosis in your permanent health care record. Insurance companies and their business partners can require access to your treatment records. Private pay services give you the most freedom and control over your treatment and confidential information. You retain maximum privacy and flexibility, and have the lowest risk of compromised privacy due to third-party information-sharing or even data breaches of computer systems.

My clients receive excellent care, in part because my energy and attention are focused on providing the best clinical care free from the distraction of administering extensive paperwork filings. Clients have also told me they appreciate being able to focus on healing, learning, and growth, compared to just narrowly treating symptoms.

Counseling Fees

Effective January 1, 2015

Fees for 50 min. sessions
Individual Counseling: 90
Couple | Family Counseling: 125
Marriage Preparation: 75

Longer counseling sessions (80 min. and 110 min.) may be useful for couples, individuals with high energy/motivation, or for those whose schedules make longer, less frequent meetings preferable. A longer meeting time works well to jump start some positive direction.

You can save on every 4th session by taking advantage of a package rate that’s available.

Because I believe everyone deserves the help they want, if financial circumstances are standing in your way, I offer a reduced rate option. Tell me if finances are an issue, and we will figure something out that will work for you.
