Speaking, Presentations, & WorkshopsI'm an experienced presenter and believe the best (and most interesting) learning happens in experiential ways. I've presented to the public on such topics as stress, communication skills, and conflict resolution. Presentations for therapists have covered improving client outcomes, using feedback to improve effectiveness, and professional wills. Below are some of the subjects I can talk to your group about. I can also tailor something to meet your needs. You can sign up for my mailing list to hear about upcoming workshops or events at which I'll be speaking. You might also want to check the Minneapolis-St Paul Therapist Connection, once it's live.
Your Personal Stress ProfileStress gets in the way of good health, good work, and good relationships. Come join me and learn about four common ways we handle stress. Identify the patterns that are typical for you in certain situations. Once you do that you have the basis for creating the most effective "stress busters" for you. Figure out how to head off overwhelm and manage your responsibilities with more ease. Additional info on content: I will introduce the Number One Priority (aka Top Card) typology (Pleasing/Chameleon, Comfort/Turtle, Eagle/Control, Lion/Superiority) as a way for attendees to understand how they react to stress. Each person will identify his/her individual "red flags" and learn a system for recognizing them when they arise. Everyone will then create their own personalized list of "stress busters." Getting Along with Difficult PeopleWhy do we get along so easily with some people, and not with others? Part of it is differences in approach and communication based on our different temperaments. Come learn the four styles that guide our interactions with others. Understanding these styles will help you in all your relationships: school, work, and personal. Additional info on content: I will present the Social Styles model (Amiable, Expressive, Analytical, Driver). Attendees will be able to identify their own style, learn about the other styles, and gain an understanding how and why these differences can cause problems. We'll go over ways people can flex towards other styles and make interactions go easier and smoother. ProcrastinationWe all do it, and then we feel guilty about it--but we do it again next time anyway! Is procrastination getting in your way completing course assignments? Come find out what procrastination is and what it isn't in this interactive presentation. You will discover your personal procrastination profile and map out strategies to shift procrastination into action. This information will help you be more successful (and less stressed!) in achieving your educational and career goals. Additional info on content: I will cover the definition of procrastination, myths about it, positive and negative impacts, each person's unique procrastination profile, and tailored strategies for shifting from procrastination to action.
